Ashfaq Khan (M. N. Khan)

Vice Chairman TPCC Minorities Department

About

M. N. Khan, popularly known as Ashfaq Khan, was born and raised in Hyderabad in a family with a strong political and social background. He drew much of his inspiration from Late K. M. Khan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), whose public service and commitment to the people left a lasting impression on him. Growing up in this environment nurtured his sense of responsibility and encouraged him to work for the welfare of society.

To strengthen his personal and professional foundation, Ashfaq Khan pursued higher education, completing a Bachelor of Commerce in Computers followed by an MBA. This combination of academic training and family influence equipped him with the skills and vision needed for a career in politics.

Entry into Politics

Ashfaq Khan formally began his political journey with the Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC), where he served as General Secretary. This early involvement gave him an opportunity to engage with young people, organize grassroots campaigns, and actively contribute to the party’s growth. His dedication and organizational abilities helped him earn recognition, and he soon became part of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). Over time, he worked as a Co-ordinator and was later appointed Vice Chairman of the TPCC Minorities Department, where he focused on inclusivity, community welfare, and strengthening the Congress Party’s minority outreach.

Political Career and Activities

Ashfaq Khan has played a significant role in Hyderabad politics, particularly in the Malakpet Assembly constituency. Known for his commitment to social justice, he actively participated in several protests and dharnas against the anti-people policies of the ruling governments. In the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, he was an aspirant candidate from Malakpet and also contributed to the campaign of the Mahakutami (TDP) candidate. During the 2019 Parliamentary elections, he served as the Malakpet Assembly In-charge, strengthening the Congress Party’s grassroots coordination in Hyderabad.

In the 2023 Assembly elections, he once again emerged as an aspirant candidate from Malakpet and later supported Congress candidate Shaik Akbar. The following year, in the 2024 Parliamentary elections, he worked for the campaign of Sameer Waliullah, the Congress MP candidate from Hyderabad. His active role in election campaigns reflects his long-standing dedication to strengthening the Congress Party in Telangana.

A landmark chapter in his political journey was his participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Alongside his responsibilities as a media co-ordinator, he also took part in the yatra itself, walking with the campaign, connecting with people on the ground, and contributing to its success in Telangana. His work during the yatra highlighted his organizational skills and his commitment to the larger mission of uniting people under democratic and secular values.

Ashfaq Khan’s social and political engagements have been covered by prominent newspapers including Siasat Daily, Munsif Daily, Varta, and Eenadu Telugu Daily, which have recognized his contributions to the Congress Party. Today, inspired by the legacy of Late K. M. Khan (M.P. Rajya Sabha), he continues his political journey with the vision of upholding democratic values, ensuring social justice, and empowering marginalized communities in Hyderabad and beyond.
