Why Is AIMIM Skipping the Jubilee Hills Bypoll? BJP MP Hints at Congress Deal
BJP MP Raghunandan Rao accuses Congress and AIMIM of a secret understanding behind AIMIM skipping the Jubilee Hills bypoll; questions political motives.
BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has alleged a covert understanding between the Congress and AIMIM, claiming this “political handshake” explains why AIMIM chose not to field a candidate in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Addressing the media at the Telangana BJP office, Rao questioned the party’s selective participation strategy. “AIMIM is contesting 30 seats in Bihar and had fought nine constituencies in the last Telangana Assembly elections. Yet, it avoids a key Hyderabad seat — its own backyard. Why?” he asked, accusing the Congress of striking a silent deal to keep AIMIM out of the fray.
Rao further criticized the state government for rushing permissions for graveyard lands in Jubilee Hills, suggesting it reflected a behind-the-scenes arrangement between the two parties. He also reiterated that the BJP had demonstrated its commitment to Muslim women’s rights through the abolition of triple talaq — a reform, he said, that upheld dignity and equality.
Analysis:
This accusation, while political in tone, underscores the BJP’s strategy to frame the Congress–AIMIM relationship as opportunistic. The move could influence urban voters, especially in Hyderabad, where triangular contests often decide margins. Voters, however, should look beyond rhetoric and demand issue-based campaigning — on civic infrastructure, women’s safety, and job creation — not just blame games.
