Why are citizens dying in Hyderabad every year due to floods ?
Heavy rains have once again brought Hyderabad to a standstill, highlighting the city’s fragile infrastructure and inadequate flood management. Despite repeated assurances, the government has failed to deliver lasting solutions, leaving citizens to face the same crisis year after year.
A metropolitan city of Hyderabad’s scale cannot afford to function without a proper stormwater drainage system or effective disaster preparedness. Unchecked encroachments, poor urban planning, and the lack of long-term investment in infrastructure have only worsened the situation. Immediate and serious measures are required, including modern drainage networks, strict enforcement against illegal constructions, and a comprehensive disaster management plan.
The people of Hyderabad deserve safety, stability, and responsible governance not recurring chaos and preventable tragedies every monsoon.
