Vice President Election: PM Modi First to Cast Vote

New Delhi: Voting for the new Vice President began on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi being the first to cast his vote in Parliament. The contest is between NDA nominee C.P. Radhakrishnan and opposition-backed B. Sudershan Reddy.

Top leaders including Rajnath Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and H.D. Deve Gowda were among the early voters. The election is being held through secret ballot, with 781 MPs eligible to vote.

With the NDA holding 425 MPs against the opposition’s 324, Radhakrishnan is seen to have a clear edge. Counting begins at 6 pm, with results expected the same evening.
