Telangana to Set Up India’s First ‘North-East Connect’ Centre in Future City Project
CM Revanth Reddy announces land allocation in Hyderabad's upcoming Future City for North East state cultural centres with hostel, art and tech facilities. Initiative aims to strengthen national integration.
Telangana to Build Dedicated North-East Centre in ‘Future City’
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced plans to establish India’s first ‘North-East Connect’ centre as part of the state’s proposed Future City on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Speaking at the Telangana–North East Connect Techno–Cultural Festival on Thursday evening, he said that land will be allocated to all eight North Eastern states to build their own establishments within the project.
The proposed buildings will feature hostel accommodations, food and handicraft zones, along with cultural and art exhibition spaces, providing a permanent platform to showcase North-East traditions, innovation and identity.
The event was attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy, several state ministers and dignitaries.
A Step Towards Deeper Cultural Understanding
Highlighting the need for stronger bonds between regions, CM Revanth Reddy said South Indians once faced identity stereotypes, just as many from the North-East do today. He noted that cultural ignorance limits appreciation, adding:
The initiative is likely to boost cultural diplomacy, give North-East communities a stronger presence in metropolitan India, and foster student and entrepreneurial exchanges. For Telangana, it positions the state as a hub of inclusivity and innovation, enhancing Hyderabad’s profile as a global destination.
If implemented successfully, this could serve as a template for other states to follow merging urban development with inter-state cultural collaboration.
