Telangana Journalists Meet Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, Raise Key Concerns at Raj Bhavan
A delegation from TJA and NUJ(I) met Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma in Hyderabad, highlighting issues faced by journalists. The Governor assured a positive response.
Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma on Saturday interacted with a delegation of journalists representing the Telangana Journalists Association (TJA) and the National Union of Journalists India (NUJ(I)) at Raj Bhavan. The visiting members honored the Governor with a shawl before engaging in discussions about the challenges confronting media professionals in the State.
The delegation included Uppala Laxman, former Press Council of India member and chairman of the JAAP and TJA Advisory Committee, NUJ(I) vice-president and TJA working president Ukkalkar Rajender Nath, TJA president Kadiri Venkata Ramana Rao, and TJA general secretary M.R. Ghouri. During the meeting, the Governor was said to have responded positively, expressing openness to their concerns.
The interaction is being seen as significant at a time when journalists continue to demand better safeguards, fair working conditions, and institutional support in Telangana. Observers note that such engagements, though symbolic, help build a bridge between media organizations and constitutional authorities. For journalists on the ground, consistent dialogue with decision-makers remains vital to ensure press freedom is strengthened in practice and not just in principle.
