Telangana Govt Claims Seasonal Diseases Under Control, Experts Urge Caution Through Monsoon
Telangana Health Minister says epidemic cases are declining this year. While hospitals report better facilities, experts stress the need for vigilance until the end of monsoon.
Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has announced that seasonal and epidemic diseases are currently under control across the state. Reviewing the monsoon health situation with senior officials, the minister said that government hospitals have been equipped to provide improved treatment facilities and that public health measures are showing results.
Officials highlighted, through a detailed presentation, that the number of epidemic cases has fallen compared to last year. Director of Health, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, attributed this improvement to widespread awareness campaigns and timely medical preparedness in both hospitals and primary health centres.
The Health Minister commended officials for containing seasonal illnesses but cautioned them against complacency, urging strict monitoring until the monsoon ends. He directed that hospitals and PHCs maintain round-the-clock readiness under senior supervision.
Analysis: While the government’s review paints a positive picture, public health experts caution that seasonal illnesses often see sudden spikes toward the end of the rains. Local communities are advised to remain alert, follow hygiene measures, and make use of government facilities early rather than waiting for complications.
The meeting was attended by senior health administrators, including Health Secretary Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, Aarogyasri Trust CEO Uday Kumar, and other department heads.
