Telangana Glows with Festive Spirit as Deepavali Lights Up Homes and Hearts
People across Telangana marked Deepavali with joy and devotion, decorating homes, visiting temples, and supporting local vendors. Leaders urged citizens to celebrate safely and promote local products.
The festival of lights brought a radiant glow to Telangana on Monday, as Deepavali was celebrated with devotion, colour, and community warmth. From early morning, streets across Hyderabad and other towns bustled with people buying diyas, flowers, sweets, and firecrackers, while homes shimmered under strings of lights and rangoli patterns.
Temples across the state saw steady streams of devotees offering prayers, while temporary stalls and shops selling festive essentials sprang up in almost every neighbourhood. The lively markets reflected the state’s festive pulse and the joy of coming together after a season of political and social activity.
Leaders from across the political spectrum extended greetings to citizens. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar conveyed their wishes on the occasion. The Governor called on people to choose locally made goods, describing it as a meaningful way to strengthen the spirit of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reminded citizens to celebrate responsibly and take safety precautions while using firecrackers.
Analysis:
Beyond its religious essence, this year’s Deepavali also highlighted an important message of local economic empowerment. Encouraging citizens to prefer indigenous products not only supports small traders but also helps sustain traditional craftsmanship. As families gathered under glowing lamps, Telangana’s celebrations stood as a reminder that festivals are as much about community care and mindful celebration as they are about light and joy.
