Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy used his Independence Day address at Hyderabad’s Golconda Fort to highlight the Congress government’s welfare and development agenda, saying the state is working towards a USD 3 trillion economy.

Citing RBI figures, Reddy said Telangana’s per capita income reached Rs 4,18,931 in 2025-26, nearly 91% above the national average. He said the government had spent its 32-month tenure restoring systems and strengthening welfare programmes.

On agriculture, the CM said loans of up to Rs 2 lakh were waived for more than 25 lakh farmer families, while over Rs 36,000 crore had been released through Rythu Bharosa. He also highlighted the Rs 500-per-quintal bonus for fine-quality paddy.

Reddy framed welfare as a measure of dignity rather than merely government expenditure. The focus on farmer support and economic growth is likely to remain central to the state government’s political and development narrative.
