SFI Telangana slams Congress govt for ignoring fee reimbursement dues, backs private colleges’ indefinite closure from September 15–16, citing student hardship.

Hyderabad: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Telangana unit has come out in support of private colleges that plan to shut down indefinitely from September 15 (professional colleges) and September 16 (degree colleges) over the state’s failure to clear long-pending fee reimbursement dues.

SFI leaders S. Rajinikanth and T. Nagaraju accused the Congress government of abandoning its election-time promise of settling arrears and building a transparent mechanism. They alleged that the administration has “deliberately ignored” the issue, hinting at a possible attempt to weaken the entire scheme.

The student body pointed out that many institutions have withheld student certificates due to unpaid fees, leaving thousands of graduates stuck in legal battles just to access their documents. SFI described the government’s silence as a betrayal of students and labelled the inaction “outrageous.

With colleges shutting down and students caught between managements and the state, the fee reimbursement deadlock threatens to disrupt higher education in Telangana. Unless resolved quickly, it could escalate into a major political flashpoint and erode trust in a flagship welfare promise.
