Revanth Reddy Slams Centre Over H-1B Visa Fee Hike, Urges Modi to Act
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy criticises the Modi government for failing to protect Indian IT workers after Trump’s steep H-1B visa fee hike. He demands urgent action from PM Modi and EAM Jaishankar.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has sharply criticised the Union government after US President Donald Trump signed an order raising the H-1B visa fee to an unprecedented USD 100,000 annually. The move, which Trump claimed was needed to prevent “abuse of the programme,” is expected to hit Indian IT professionals the hardest, especially Telugu tech workers in the US.
Reddy said the sudden decision has caused shock and panic among Indian families abroad, calling it “unacceptable in the context of Indo-American ties.” He accused the Union government of being unprepared to handle such a crisis and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene immediately.
“The suffering of our Telugu techies will be unimaginable if this issue is not resolved. The Centre cannot remain silent while our skilled workforce faces such a huge setback,” Reddy posted on X.
Critics say that while India’s IT professionals have long contributed to the US economy, the Modi government has failed to build safeguards for them in foreign policy negotiations. With lakhs of Indian families dependent on H-1B visas, the Centre’s inaction could result in devastating consequences for both workers and India’s global reputation.
