Revanth Reddy Slams BRS as BJP's 'B-Team', Warns of Vote Split Tactics in Telangana Bypoll
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy accuses BRS of aligning with BJP to divide votes ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. He urges voters to resist these tactics while reaffirming Congress' support for local communities.
At a public meeting held near Charminar on Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a strong attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing it of secretly helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in elections. He claimed that the two parties have formed a “covert alliance” aimed at splitting votes in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. Reddy said the pattern was already visible during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where nearly 21 percent of votes were, according to him, strategically diverted to help the BJP. “The BRS has become the BJP’s B-Team,” he declared, warning voters not to be misled by what he described as a “political conspiracy. The Chief Minister’s comments come at a time when political activity in Hyderabad is picking up ahead of several bypolls. His warning, political observers say, is an attempt to alert voters about backroom deals that could undermine democratic choice, especially in urban areas like Jubilee Hills where multiple parties share overlapping voter bases
During the same event, held to mark Rajiv Gandhi’s Sadbhavana Yatra, Reddy turned his attention to youth empowerment. Referring to Rajiv Gandhi’s landmark decision to lower the voting age from 21 to 18, he said the next logical step would be to reduce the minimum age to contest Assembly elections to 21, calling it “a reform for a modern, youthful democracy
Analysis: Revanth Reddy’s sharp rhetoric reflects his effort to draw a clear line between the Congress and its regional rivals while appealing to young voters and community groups. His dual focus on political transparency and youth inclusion underscores the Congress’s strategy to connect with both urban and grassroots audiences ahead of the next phase of Telangana’s political contests.
