Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday became the first CM in two decades to visit Osmania University (OU). He inaugurated a new digital library, reading room, and hostel built at a cost of ₹90 crore.

Addressing faculty, staff, students, and alumni at Tagore Auditorium, he promised an additional ₹1,000 crore to transform OU into an “Oxford-level” institution. Calling OU and Telangana “inseparable twins,” Revanth urged the university community to form a committee to list its needs, assuring funds would follow.

He announced plans to return in December to interact directly with Arts College students—without police bandobast. His current visit saw protests and some student arrests.

Cautioning against misinformation on WhatsApp and social media, he said: “I have no land or treasury to give, the only thing I can give you is education. Only education can change your destiny.” Revanth also shared his own journey from poverty, stressing that his government understands the struggles of students.
