Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav to Share Stage in Bihar as Campaign Heats Up

New Delhi: In a show of opposition unity, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav will address two joint rallies in Bihar on Wednesday, officially launching the Mahagathbandhan’s campaign for the 2025 Assembly elections.

The first event will be held at Sakra in Muzaffarpur, where Gandhi will campaign for Congress candidate Umesh Kumar Ram, followed by another rally in Darbhanga to mobilize support across the Mithilanchal region. Party officials expect a massive turnout, viewing the event as a key moment to energize alliance workers and reinforce coordination between the Congress and RJD.

This will be Rahul Gandhi’s first campaign visit to Bihar in the current poll season. Earlier, in August, he had spent 16 consecutive days in the state during his ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, covering nearly 1,300 km and interacting directly with voters.

Analysis

The joint rallies signal a strategic attempt by the Mahagathbandhan to project a cohesive alternative to the NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U). Analysts say the optics of Gandhi and Tejashwi sharing the stage could help bridge local organisational gaps and strengthen the alliance’s rural outreach.

Observers also note that Rahul Gandhi’s renewed focus on Bihar one of the key battleground states for the opposition reflects Congress’s push to regain ground in Hindi heartland politics ahead of 2025
