Rahul Gandhi says Modi’s foreign policy is failing as US hikes tariffs and tightens H-1B visa rules.

Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of weakening India’s foreign policy by relying too heavily on personal friendships. His remarks came at a Congress Working Committee meeting in the backdrop of the Trump administration imposing steep tariffs on India and tightening H-1B visa rules.

The US recently hiked tariffs on Indian goods to 50%, citing New Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil. India has rejected the move as “unjustified” and vowed to protect its national interests.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also hit out at Modi, saying that the very leaders the prime minister calls his “friends” are now creating serious problems for India.

Analysts warn that the tariff hike and visa curbs pose not just economic risks but also challenge India’s global credibility, raising fresh questions about the government’s diplomatic strategy.
