Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches projects worth ₹13,430 crore in Andhra Pradesh, spanning energy, transport, industry, and defence sectors—aimed at driving investment and job creation across Rayalaseema and coastal regions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday rolled out a massive development package for Andhra Pradesh, launching and laying the foundation for multiple projects worth ₹13,430 crore. The initiative spans diverse sectors including power, industry, transport, petroleum, and defence—aimed at accelerating growth and job creation across the Rayalaseema and coastal belts.
At a public gathering in Kurnool, PM Modi inaugurated projects that promise to strengthen Andhra’s industrial base and modernize its infrastructure. The event, themed “Super GST – Super Saving,” also served as part of the state’s ongoing campaign to promote fiscal reforms and efficient governance.
Before addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister offered prayers at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple in Srisailam and visited the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, marking the start of his day-long tour.
Among the key initiatives, Modi laid the foundation for a Transmission System Strengthening project at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, valued at ₹2,880 crore. This ambitious venture, featuring a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, aims to enhance the flow of renewable energy into the national grid—supporting India’s clean power goals.
He also announced the Orvakal and Kopparthy Industrial Areas in Kurnool and Kadapa districts, developed jointly by NICDIT and APIIC. Together worth nearly ₹4,920 crore, these upcoming industrial hubs will offer modern “plug-and-play” facilities and are expected to attract over ₹21,000 crore in investments while generating close to one lakh new jobs.
In the transport sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for road and railway projects exceeding ₹2,000 crore, including the six-lane Sabbavaram–Sheelanagar Greenfield Highway and upgrades across key railway routes like Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram. These projects aim to cut travel time, decongest urban routes, and strengthen trade connectivity.
Additionally, Modi dedicated the Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline by GAIL and a new LPG bottling plant in Chittoor—together worth over ₹1,900 crore—to improve energy access and supply reliability.
The Prime Minister also launched the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Krishna district, built by Bharat Electronics Limited at a cost of ₹360 crore, to enhance India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
Analysis:
This large-scale rollout reflects New Delhi’s renewed focus on regional development through infrastructure-led growth. The projects—spanning multiple sectors—are not only expected to boost employment and local enterprise but also strengthen Andhra’s role in the national energy and defence networks. For residents, the real impact will depend on timely execution and ensuring that industrial growth translates into tangible benefits such as stable jobs and improved local services.
