Prime Minister Modi announced projects worth ₹34,200 crore in Gujarat under ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’. Critics question whether these big-ticket promises will bring real change or remain incomplete like past ventures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹34,200 crore in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar during the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ event. The projects cover ports, renewable energy, highways, healthcare, and urban transport, with nearly ₹7,870 crore allocated for maritime sector initiatives such as new terminals, cargo berths, and coastal protection works.

While the announcements sound ambitious, critics argue that past mega projects often faced delays, underutilization, or stalled midway. From metro rail expansions to smart city missions, several high-profile initiatives launched with fanfare have either slowed down or failed to deliver visible benefits to the public.

The event showcased solar projects, LNG infrastructure, and hospital expansions, but concerns remain about long-term execution, transparency, and whether these projects will generate sustainable employment or simply add to Gujarat’s project announcement list.

Opposition leaders have also pointed out that the government repeatedly highlights massive investment figures during election seasons but struggles with accountability in follow-ups. For many citizens, the real question is whether these grand projects will transform daily life or remain limited to foundation stone ceremonies.

The Bhavnagar event may boost political optics, but the people of Gujarat will judge its success only when promises on paper turn into real, functioning infrastructure.
