PM Modi supports Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, calling it a viable pathway to long-term security and stability in West Asia despite uncertainty over Hamas’s response.

New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended support to US President Donald Trump’s proposal to resolve the Gaza conflict, describing it as a “viable pathway” toward peace and stability in West Asia. Modi’s statement came after Trump, joined by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, unveiled a 20-point framework aimed at halting the ongoing war in Gaza.

While Trump and Netanyahu signaled optimism, uncertainty lingers as Hamas has yet to indicate whether it will engage with the proposal. The plan also includes the creation of a temporary governing body in Gaza, a controversial element that has sparked debate internationally.

In a post on X, Modi expressed hope that “all concerned will come together” to support the initiative, framing it as an opportunity for both Palestinians and Israelis to secure a more stable and prosperous future.

Analysis: Modi’s endorsement signals India’s intent to maintain close diplomatic alignment with Washington and Tel Aviv. However, whether the plan achieves traction depends largely on its acceptance by Palestinian leadership and regional stakeholders. For India, stability in West Asia is not just a foreign policy concern but a domestic one—millions of Indian expatriates live and work in the Gulf, making peace in the region vital for economic and security reasons.
