Owaisi Slams 130th Amendment Bill, Questions President’s Powers

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday (Aug 25) hit out at the proposed 130th Amendment Bill, questioning how it could allow the President to remove the Prime Minister. “As per the Constitution, the President acts on the advice of the Council of Ministers. How can the President ask the PM to resign?” he asked.

Recalling former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao, Owaisi noted that even when a court summoned him for an inquiry, he did not step down. Criticizing political defections, he added, “If you really talk about morality, then pass a law that no arrested person should be allowed to join the ruling party.
