Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj recalled PM Modi’s encouragement after the 2023 ODI World Cup loss and his congratulatory call following the T20 World Cup win.

New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for standing firmly with the national cricket team in both victory and defeat. Sharing his thoughts under the My Modi Story campaign, Siraj recalled how the Prime Minister consoled the squad in the dressing room after India’s heartbreaking loss to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad.

“A year later, when we lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados, Modi ji was the first to call and congratulate us. He has been with us in moments of pain and pride — a true inspiration,” Siraj said in a video message posted on X.

The campaign has also seen veteran cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth narrate his own encounter with the Prime Minister. Remembering their first meeting during the 2011 World Cup, Srikkanth said Modi’s warmth, sharp intelligence, and humility left a lasting impression. “At 75, he continues to serve tirelessly, setting an example for all of us,” he added.

As the nation celebrates PM Modi’s 75th birthday, stories like these highlight his personal connect with citizens, extending beyond politics into the realms of sport, culture, and everyday life.
