Mohammed Siraj Calls Out Air India Express Over Flight Delay Chaos
Cricketer Mohammed Siraj expresses frustration after Air India Express delayed his Guwahati–Hyderabad flight without clear updates, highlighting the need for better airline communication.
Guwahati: Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj publicly voiced his frustration after Air India Express delayed flight IX 2884 to Hyderabad on Wednesday evening without proper communication. He was scheduled to fly at 7:25 p.m. after finishing a domestic match but, like other passengers, was reportedly left waiting with no answers from ground staff.
It took the airline over 90 minutes to issue an apology, citing “unforeseen operational reasons” and assuring that alternative arrangements were being worked out. Siraj expressed disappointment over the handling of the situation, pointing out that passengers—especially those travelling after professional commitments—deserve clear and timely updates.
The incident highlights a growing concern among travellers: delays are sometimes acceptable, but lack of information is not. With athletes and working professionals on strict schedules, better crisis management and proactive communication could prevent unnecessary escalation and protect airline credibility.
