Lakhs of Hyderabad Voters May Get SIR Notices Over Electoral Roll Errors
Hyderabad may see lakhs of SIR notices as officials identify anomalies in electoral rolls. CEO says eligible voters will get an opportunity to clarify discrepancies.
Lakhs of voters in Hyderabad may receive notices during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) after officials identified a large number of discrepancies in electoral rolls, particularly in urban areas.
According to Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy, anomalies include age mismatches, name differences and incorrect family mapping. He clarified that no voter's name can be removed without a notice, and eligible voters will be given an opportunity to submit supporting documents before any decision is taken.
Voters are advised to verify their SIR details carefully and respond promptly if they receive a notice, as timely clarification can help avoid unnecessary issues in the electoral roll.
