BRS leader KT Rama Rao pledges legal and political support to Vikarabad farmers opposing Regional Ring Road land acquisition, accusing Congress of altering alignment to protect leaders’ properties.

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has promised unwavering support to farmers in Vikarabad who are objecting to the land acquisition process for the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). Meeting a group of affected villagers at Telangana Bhavan, he assured them that both political and legal assistance would be extended if their lands were taken unfairly.

Farmers alleged that the government was proceeding without transparency and demanded that all acquisition follow the guidelines of the Land Acquisition Act. They expressed concern over losing their agricultural lands, which they say are their only means of livelihood.

Responding to their appeals, Rama Rao criticized the Congress-led government, accusing it of deliberately altering the road’s alignment to shield lands owned by influential leaders while targeting small farmers. He argued that government lands should be prioritized for infrastructure projects to minimize displacement.

Calling the issue larger than party politics, KTR urged all parties to stand together in protecting the rights of rural families. He also pledged to raise the matter in the Assembly and warned that any forcible land takeover would be strongly resisted.

Local Impact
For communities in Vikarabad, the dispute highlights the recurring tension between development projects and agricultural survival. While infrastructure growth is vital, experts caution that failing to balance it with farmers’ rights risks fueling unrest. Citizens suggest that independent oversight and transparent land surveys would help avoid repeated conflicts of this nature.
