KTR Dares CM Revanth Reddy: “Make Defected MLAs Resign and Face By-Elections
BRS leader KT Rama Rao challenges Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to let defected MLAs resign and face bypolls, warning Congress of people’s backlash in upcoming elections.
Hyderabad: Telangana politics heated up once again on Saturday, September 13, as BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) threw down a challenge to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, urging him to make defected MLAs resign and seek a fresh mandate through bypolls.
Speaking at a massive public meeting in Gadwal, Jogulamba-Gadwal district, KTR accused the Congress of “sheltering defectors” and warned that the Supreme Court is taking defections seriously. “These MLAs may believe they are secure today, but by-elections are inevitable. And when they come, people will give Congress and Revanth Reddy a fitting lesson,” he declared.
Taking aim at Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, who switched sides after winning on a BRS ticket, KTR questioned his credibility:
-
“He tells one story to the people, another to the Assembly Speaker. If he claims he’s still in BRS, why isn’t he standing with us here today?”
KTR further alleged that not a single rupee of development has reached the constituency in the last 22 months. He accused the MLA of defecting for personal gain, not Gadwal’s progress.
Despite the defections, KTR exuded confidence that the BRS would secure 30 of the 37 wards in the upcoming Gadwal municipal elections. He dismissed Congress’s claims of strength, stating both the ruling party and the defected MLA had “failed the district
Political analysts note that defections have become a major flashpoint in Telangana politics, with voters increasingly frustrated over leaders switching sides for power. By-polls, if they occur, could become a litmus test for both BRS and Congress ahead of 2026.
