Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Wednesday sounded a flood alert for the twin reservoirs—Osmansagar and Himayatsagar—after a sharp rise in water inflows.

Officials said that while inflows have been steady for the past week, Wednesday morning witnessed a sudden surge, forcing authorities to release water through the reservoir gates to regulate levels. With more rainfall predicted in the catchment areas, the HMWSSB has cautioned that further releases may be necessary later in the evening.

As of 5 pm on Wednesday, fresh inflows were officially recorded and released, the Board confirmed.
