Election authorities checked the vehicle of BRS working president K T Rama Rao in Sircilla ahead of Telangana’s municipal polls, a video of which surfaced on social media.

Hyderabad: With Telangana heading into municipal elections, election officials on Thursday carried out a routine inspection of the vehicle of KT Rama Rao in Sircilla district.

A video circulating on social media shows the Sircilla MLA stepping out of his Land Cruiser after it was stopped for inspection and calmly cooperating with the officials. During the check, election staff opened a briefcase and other luggage inside the vehicle, while Rama Rao and his team waited without objection.

The inspection comes days after the Telangana State Election Commission announced the schedule for municipal elections. Polling will be held on February 11 across 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, with voting slated between 7 am and 5 pm. Counting of votes will take place on February 13.

As per the election timeline, nominations can be filed until 5 pm on January 30, followed by scrutiny the next day. The final list of candidates will be confirmed after the withdrawal deadline on February 3.
