Congress Warns Against ‘Fake Surveys’ in Jubilee Hills Bypoll, But Critics Question Transparency
Telangana Congress warns of legal action over ‘fake surveys’ on Jubilee Hills by-election, but critics ask why the party is avoiding independent polls and public accountability.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress has come down heavily on what it calls “fake surveys” being circulated on social media regarding the Jubilee Hills by-election. Reports claiming that the party is performing poorly in the constituency have drawn a sharp response from state leaders, who warned of legal action against those spreading misinformation.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, PCC Media & Communications Chairman Sama Rammohan Reddy clarified that the party has not commissioned any official surveys and dismissed claims made by one Saidulu, who allegedly projected himself as a Congress surveyor. Reddy stressed that Saidulu has “no connection to the party” and his statements were completely baseless.
While the Congress leadership insists that such reports are politically motivated attempts to damage its image, critics argue that the party’s defensive stance raises its own questions. If Congress is confident about its position in Jubilee Hills, why fear surveys—official or unofficial? Why not commission independent polls and release results to the public to counter misinformation transparently?
Analysts also point out that the ruling party may be worried about internal dissatisfaction and the impact of defections in Hyderabad constituencies. By dismissing all surveys as “fake,” the Congress risks looking like it is avoiding scrutiny instead of proving its strength with facts.
With Jubilee Hills shaping up to be a high-stakes contest, the Congress has made it clear it will not tolerate any attempt to tarnish its image. But as the election nears, the real test will be at the ballot box—not in press conferences.
