Congress to Convene CWC in Patna on Sept 24, Bihar Polls & “Vote Chori” Likely on Agenda
Congress will hold its CWC meeting in Patna on September 24 to plan Bihar Assembly poll strategy, seat-sharing talks, and sharpen its attack on BJP over “vote chori.
New Delhi/Patna: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet in Patna on September 24, where the party’s senior leadership will chalk out its campaign roadmap for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The session, starting at 10 am, is expected to be attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, chief ministers from Congress-ruled states, PCC presidents and CLP leaders.
According to party insiders, the spotlight will firmly be on Bihar — from finalising the poll strategy to addressing the thorny issue of “vote chori,” which has become the party’s central attack line against the BJP. The meeting also comes as Congress and its Mahagathbandhan partners continue seat-sharing negotiations, with a decision expected soon.
The timing is significant. Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, aimed at highlighting alleged irregularities in voter rolls, has energised party workers and sharpened the focus on electoral integrity. Just this week, the Pradesh Election Committee was formed with 39 members, including state chief Rajesh Ram, Shakeel Ahmed Khan and Madan Mohan Jha, ensuring broader representation.
With elections likely in November, the Patna CWC meeting signals Congress’s intent to take the fight to Bihar, not just as a regional contest but as part of its wider national strategy against the BJP. Political observers say the emphasis on “vote chori” is designed to resonate with voters who feel alienated by alleged electoral manipulations.
