Congress Seeks Probe Into BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s Wife’s Rising Assets, Alleges Corruption
Congress accuses BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s wife, Anamika Gautam, of disproportionate asset growth and demands an investigation, citing inconsistencies in her election affidavit details.
A fresh political row has erupted after the Congress accused BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s wife, Anamika Gautam, of amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. The party has called for a detailed probe into what it described as “a case of massive corruption.”
At a press briefing in New Delhi on Thursday, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate cited election affidavit data to highlight what she termed as “inconsistent growth” in Gautam’s assets. She pointed out that a complaint filed before the Lokpal on May 24, 2025, questioned the rise in her movable and immovable properties. The Lokpal, according to Shrinate, had ordered Dubey to respond within four weeks, but the outcome remains unclear.
Comparing financial declarations from 2009 to 2024, Shrinate alleged that Gautam’s total assets had surged from ₹50 lakh to over ₹31 crore, with the most dramatic increase recorded between 2019 and 2024. She urged both the BJP and Dubey to clarify the source of these assets and accused the ruling party of shielding its leaders from accountability.
So far, neither Dubey nor the BJP has issued a response to the allegations.
Analysis: The Congress’s move adds to a pattern of corruption-related attacks ahead of key political contests, reflecting an intensifying battle over credibility and transparency. If proven, the case could have significant political ramifications — not only for Dubey’s image but also for the BJP’s narrative on clean governance. For voters, such allegations serve as a reminder of the importance of stronger asset disclosure laws and timely Lokpal reviews to ensure political accountability.
