Congress leader Naveen Yadav faces a case for distributing voter cards in Jubilee Hills, shortly after the Model Code of Conduct took effect ahead of the November 11 by-election.

Hyderabad: The enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Telangana began on a controversial note as Congress leader Naveen Yadav was booked for allegedly violating election rules in the Jubilee Hills constituency. Police registered a case against Yadav after he was found distributing voter ID cards to the public, just hours after the Election Commission announced the by-election schedule.

The polling for Jubilee Hills is scheduled for November 11. The complaint was lodged by the local election officer at the Madhuranagar police station, accusing Yadav of breaching the MCC guidelines and violating provisions of the Public Representatives Act.

Meanwhile, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan reviewed preparations at the Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, which will serve as the center for distribution, reception, and counting of election materials. Officials emphasized the importance of vigilance among sector officers, who act as key links in ensuring smooth and transparent poll operations.

Political analysts note that this early violation serves as a reminder of how crucial adherence to election protocols is for maintaining credibility in the electoral process—especially in high-stakes constituencies like Jubilee Hills.
