Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday laid the foundation for Phases II and III of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project at Gandipet. The initiative aims to meet Hyderabad’s rising water demand and rejuvenate local water bodies.

Reddy said 20 TMC of water from the Sripada Yellampally project would be diverted — 16 TMC for Hyderabad’s drinking needs and 4 TMC for restoring the Musi river and other water bodies.

He criticised the previous BRS government for halting the Pranahita Chevella project and promised to build the Tummidihatti barrage to provide irrigation for Adilabad and Rangareddy districts.
