BRS Protests CBI Probe into Kaleshwaram Project

Hyderabad: BRS workers on Monday staged protests across Telangana against the Congress government’s decision to order a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Holding black flags, raising slogans, and burning effigies of CM A Revanth Reddy, activists hit the streets in Suryapet, Deverakonda, Jangaon, Bhongir, Miryalguda, Nagarjuna Sagar and Hyderabad.
BRS leaders alleged the probe was a “premeditated attack” on party chief KCR. MLC K Kavitha called it an attempt to “lower KCR’s stature,” while working president K T Rama Rao vowed to fight “legally and politically,” accusing Revanth of acting as “Rahul Gandhi’s currency manager.”
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar welcomed the move, saying BRS was “solely responsible” for “massive corruption” in the project and claimed the BJP’s stand was vindicated.
State IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said the government, after multiple inquiries, decided to hand over the matter to CBI as the project involved inter-state and central agencies. CM Revanth Reddy announced the decision in the Assembly on Sunday night, citing the judicial commission’s report on Kaleshwaram.
