Hyderabad: Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Saturday accused the Congress government of avoiding discussions on key public issues in the ongoing Assembly Monsoon Session, alleging that it was more focused on “politics of mudslinging.”

Speaking at the BAC meeting, Harish Rao said the government was planning to restrict the Assembly session to just two days instead of 15, and stressed the need to debate crucial matters such as the recent floods, urea shortage, student deaths in gurukuls due to food poisoning, and the delay in fee reimbursement.

AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has also written to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, urging that the session be extended to 15 days.

Meanwhile, state Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy demanded that BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao attend the discussion on the P.C. Ghose Commission report into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He said that KCR’s absence would be seen as an admission of responsibility for the project’s failure.
