BJP Won’t Return to Power in Telangana for 50 Years”: Raja Singh After Jubilee Hills Debacle
BJP MLA T Raja Singh lashes out after the party’s poor Jubilee Hills bypoll showing, urging senior leaders to rescue the organisation and warning that the BJP risks fading out in Telangana.
Following the BJP’s disappointing third-place finish in the Jubilee Hills by-election, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh delivered a stark warning to the party’s top brass, saying the BJP may not come to power in Telangana “for the next 50 years” if the current trajectory continues. In a statement addressing Union ministers Bandi Sanjay, G. Kishan Reddy, and senior leader K. Laxman, he urged them to “save the party” before it loses further ground.
Raja Singh, who resigned from the BJP in June over the appointment of N. Ramchander Rao as state president, voiced deep frustration with the party’s organisational collapse. The bypoll saw BJP nominee Lankala Deepak Reddy finish a distant third with 17,061 votes, far behind Congress winner Naveen Yadav (98,988) and BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha (74,259).
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also seized on the BJP’s steep drop in vote share, questioning how Kishan Reddy allowed support to fall “from 65,000 to 17,000” and calling the result “a tremor before an earthquake.”
Kishan Reddy has countered by alleging that Congress benefited from AIMIM support and widespread cash distribution, adding that a formal complaint will be sent to the Election Commission. He insisted the BJP will analyse the setback and intensify its preparations for the upcoming GHMC elections, particularly the contest for the Mayor’s post.
Analysis:
Raja Singh’s blunt remarks underscore a widening crisis within the BJP’s Telangana unit, where internal rifts are sharpening just as the party faces electoral setbacks. If the leadership cannot stabilise its base before the GHMC polls, the BJP risks losing its urban momentum — a crucial factor for its long-term ambitions in the state.
