Adani Accelerates Google Data Centre Partnership in Andhra Pradesh
The Adani Group on Thursday announced that it is accelerating its joint venture with Google to establish a gigawatt-scale data centre cluster in Visakhapatnam, following discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. The state government has allocated 480 acres across Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts for the project, paving the way for one of India’s largest digital infrastructure developments.
Under the current plan, Google will invest around $15 billion over five years starting in 2026, while Adani is expected to bring in up to $5 billion, with the entire project powered by clean energy sources. Officials anticipate that the initiative will generate thousands of jobs, support advanced skill development, and significantly energise the regional economy.
The project aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s broader strategy to strengthen its ports, green-energy corridors and digital industries, while supporting the long-term vision of developing Amaravati into a global-standard urban hub.
This partnership positions Andhra Pradesh at the centre of India’s expanding data-economy map. Large-scale digital infrastructure can draw ancillary industries, improve local skilling pipelines and make the region more competitive for future technology investments. However, experts note that timely execution of land, power and connectivity commitments will be critical for ensuring the state fully capitalises on this transformative opportunity.
